You send us a soil sample, we tell you what's in it
Using cutting-edge soil microscopy, we can determine the fungal and bacterial biomass of any sample. This is a key indicator of soil health and structure. We'll also assess a number of soil organisms like flagellates, amoebae, ciliates, and nematodes, which are responsible for nutrient cycling.
How does it work?
Simply take a sample from your soil or compost pile according to these standardized instructions, and send it over! We'll take care of the rest.
Once we have your soil sample, we'll analyze it under the microscope to give you an understanding of what types of microorganisms are present in what quantities. Each crop requires a specific microbiome, and we'll help you determine if your soil suits your crop and how to improve it.
Learn about your soil
Healthy plants start with healthy soil. Get to know what's really in your soil with our holistic scientific approach. Want to learn more about which organisms we look for and what they mean for your soil? None of what we do is a secret, we are happy to share this knowledge to get more people growing with a living ecosystem!
Soil Health Consultation
Are you a farmer or gardener transitioning from chemical to organic? We help you go beyond organic by harnessing the power of your soil microbiome.
With time-testing techniques and cutting edge science, we supercharge your compost and apply it to your soils.
Most farms see immediate drastic improvements, but if you don't we'll continue to work with you to figure out what's wrong and make sure you get results.
The Power of Fungi
The Fungal-to-Bacterial Biomass Ratio is one of the key soil health indicators we give you in our soil and compost microbiome tests. This one number tells us a lot about your soil, specifically what stage of plant succession it's in. Most conventional farm soils fall within the 0-0.3 range, while 1:1 is preferred for vegetables and row crops, 10:1 for fruit trees, and up to 10,000:1 for old-growth forests! By harnessing the power of fungi, you can make your soil the perfect environment to grow your desired plants, while making it completely inhospitable to weeds.
